A SEA OF STARS:
BioNike renews its support to WORLDRISE campaigns 30x30 Italy and AMPlification
The sea is the lifeblood of our planet. One out of two breaths we take we owe it to seawater, which produces 50% of the oxygen and absorbs about a third of the CO2 found in excess in the atmosphere, thus standing as our greatest ally in the mitigation of climate change. About half of the population in the world depends on the ocean for their primary source of food, thus protecting it effectively is key to preserving its functionality and productivity.
Worldrise is an Italian non-profit organisation founded by Mariasole Bianco that has been working for 10 years through projects for the preservation of the marine environment and to increase awareness towards protecting it.
The organisation works with the aid of young students and graduates, with the purpose to train the future guardians of Italy’s wildlife heritage.
The organisation’s mission is to promote change that favours the protection of the marine environment and raises awareness towards such need.
The organisation’s vision is to (re-)connect people with the sea. Our existence depends on the sea and the future of the sea depends on us.
On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, BioNike has decided to renew its support for the A SEA OF STARS campaign by Worldrise, which consists of two projects that aim at taking effective action towards protecting the environment and raising awareness in people about the true role of the sea.

BioNike is a supporting partner of the Worldrise 30x30 Italy campaign aiming at securing protection for 30% of seas by 2030. The campaign, designed to achieve such objective for Italian seas, has the challenging and much-needed goal to ensure the functionality and productivity of our seas by securing special protection for a number of marine areas along the shores of Italy.
BioNike supports the Portofino Protected Marine Area by sustaining the AMPlification campaign by Worldrise, a project aiming at raising awareness of people, especially in coastal areas, towards the importance of Protected Marine Areas (PMA), where biodiversity is protected by ensuring sustainable development.
