We have always selected ingredients to obtain the best skin tolerability profile, through the constant research of our laboratories that evolves into increasingly innovative strategies.
In our formulas we do not use ingredients indicated at a scientific and dermatological level as the most frequent cause of contact allergies: all BioNike products are therefore nickel tested, preservative-free, fragrance-free (or allergen-free fragrance) and without other ingredients indicated scientifically and dermatologically as the most frequent cause of contact allergies.

Nickel tested
Nickel is the most frequent cause of contact allergy in Western industrialized countries, in the European population with an estimated incidence of 20%.
It occurs as a result of contact with everyday products and objects that contain and release this metal on the skin, such as jewelry, cosmetics, detergents, accessories. According to dermatological literature, a trace of Nickel equal to 1 ppm (parts per million), i.e. 0.0001%, is sufficient to induce dermatitis in allergic subjects.
Cosmetic products can also contain traces of Nickel from raw materials, from the production process or from the packaging material, thus being incompatible with use by subjects sensitized to this metal.

At BioNike we have defined formulation and control parameters to ensure a trace Nickel content of less than 0.1 ppm (0.00001%) for each production batch: a value 10 times lower than what, scientifically, is indicated as the threshold content that can lead to an allergic reaction.
For make-up, in which pigments represent a source of significant traces of Nickel, as well as Chromium and Cobalt (other metals that cause allergic reactions) we have defined additional and specific formulation parameters and a double control procedure on each production batch: the control of the content of Ni, Cr, Co and the control of their transfer from the formula to the skin (Method according to EC Regulation no. 1907/2006).

At BioNike, we adopt special formulation strategies to replace the use of traditional preservatives, while still ensuring the microbiological protection of the products.

FRAGRANCE FREE
Perfume is a possible source of sensitizing substances - allergens - and is in fact one of the most frequent causes of allergy, second only to Nickel.
At BioNike we mainly formulate fragrance-free cosmetics: we carefully select and evaluate the quality of the raw materials also from an olfactory point of view so that our products are pleasant to use even without added fragrance.
In some cases where we use perfume to obtain greater gratification, we choose only perfume without allergens.
